wawa connects to the EmbryoScope server to link a cycle's embryos to their wells and pull back well locations, fertilisation times, gradings and images into the embryology record. The integration is switched on for your account by wawa.

Requirements

• The ES Public API service installed on the ES Server. This is a separate service from EmbryoViewer: the API listens on port 4000, EmbryoViewer on 3010.
• The API reachable over HTTPS (TLS 1.2) through a Site-to-Site VPN or a customer-managed public URL restricted to wawa's egress IPs.
• Anything in front of the API (proxy, gateway) must forward requests to port 4000 unchanged and must not challenge or filter them. An empty 401 on every path usually means a gateway is in the way.
• The ES Public API allows about 10 requests per second and issues sessions that last 60 minutes; wawa handles both.

Share the username and password over a secure channel, or enter them in wawa yourself. Also name your IT contact for the network path, and your Vitrolife contact if the API service still needs installing.

Setting it up

1. Go to Settings → Integrations → EmbryoScope and add each instrument with the inputs above. Credentials are encrypted and not shown again.
2. Click Test on each instrument to confirm wawa can reach it and sign in.

Using it

1. Open the cycle's Culture tab and Assign it to the instrument holding its embryos (a cycle can be assigned to one instrument at a time; reassign or unassign from the same place).
2. Run the EmbryoScope sync from the cycle. wawa pushes the patient and treatment, links the embryos and pulls back well data, gradings and images.

Syncing is on demand and safe to repeat: values only update when they change, manually entered gradings are kept and images are not downloaded twice. Images arrive shortly after the sync completes (the last image of each development day, up to 8 days). Embryos are linked to wells by position, so keep the order consistent on both sides.
